With Christmas and Hanukkah both hitting this weekend, I think it’s fair to say that the holidays are in full swing!
In the spirit of the season, I’m wondering if you’ll humor me as I channel my inner Santa.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to subject you to a picture of me in a Santa suit, instead, I’d like to make a list, and check it twice!
But I need your help…
Making a List
For 2017, I’m kicking off a new project. I’m going to put together a list of the top personal finance blogs as recommended by the Be Net Worthy community.
As many of you know, I’m currently an executive at a large corporation and have been there for over fifteen years. The bulk of my time there has been spent in consumer marketing. Well, you don’t spend that much time in consumer marketing without learning a few things about consumer behavior.
One of the most interesting things I’ve learned is that you can tell a lot about someone by the media they consume. What types of videos do they watch on YouTube? What types of books do they read (if any) and what types of shows do they watch? Ask your friends sometime and you’ll see how different or similar their selections can be.
Why am I telling you this? Well based on the fact that you are reading this blog, it means you are choosing to consume the same media as my other readers. Even though you may not know these other readers, it is likely that you have a few things in common with them. Now hold that thought.
I’ve also learned that a recommendation from a friend is the most powerful endorsement anyone could receive. You can ask someone if they like a show or blog or book, but when asked if they would recommend it to a friend, the answer often changes. I’ve seen the data in the market research studies.
When you make a recommendation, you’re putting a little bit of your own reputation at risk and the bar is higher. Sure, you may like something, but would you recommend it? Maybe or maybe not. If they don’t like your recommendation, will they think badly about you? That’s high stakes! Well, maybe not super-high stakes, but you know what I mean.
With those two thoughts in mind, I’m putting together the Be Net Worthy community list of recommended personal finance blogs. Why do I want your help with it rather than just posting a list myself?
Because, as we established earlier, my readers share a common interest in personal finance, and it is unlikely that this is the only blog you read. So, the Be Net Worthy community has a wealth of information on the personal finance media that is out there to consume. A compilation of all our top recommended blogs should be a great list!
Here’s how it is going to work.
Recommended Personal Finance Blogs
Please think about the personal finance blogs that you read regularly and list the top 3-5 blogs that you would recommend to a friend in the comments below.
If you happen to be a blogger yourself, DO NOT include your own. You’ll have to hope that someone else recommends you.
I’m looking for personal finance blogs that are good enough that you would recommend them to a friend. We’re all friends, right?
They could get recommended because they are funny, insightful, informative, or just plain entertaining. It’s your choice!
I’m hoping to get a decent sized list and then I will post it early in the New Year.
In the meantime, I hope that you are able to take some time off from work and spend some time with your loved ones this holiday season.
Maybe they are your immediate family, or maybe they are your close friends. It doesn’t really matter. Perhaps you’ll invite a friend over who doesn’t have anyone else to spend the holidays with.
In any case, I hope that you can enjoy the company and companionship and take some time to connect with the important people in your life.
